每个人都有选择生活的权利，建筑师也不例外。能够改变自己目前固定模式的生活方式，选择一种更接近自然与人性的生活，是需要缘分，也需要勇气的。

当大部分的建筑师都在梦想着创造惊世瞩目的作品，获得荣耀与光环时，建筑师Marco Giunta与Viviana Haddad夫妇则选择了另一种生活态度。他们不是伟大的建筑师，做着平凡但绝不平庸的事情。这一切都归功于他俩改造和经营的度假小旅馆Casa Talia，在西西里岛的Modica。

What was your inspiration to leave Milanand open a hotel in Sicily?

My wife and I onceorganised a workshop for architects in Tuscany.We thought about place, hospitality and food. For us, it was a good opportunityto feel how nice it is outside of the big city.

Then, in2001, we came to Sicilyfor a summer holiday. It was a coincidence that we came to Modica, but weended up spending 15 days here, forgetting everything else. We were reallyimpressed and fell in love with the city.

My fatheris Sicilian, from the north of the island, so when I arrived here, I felt areal connection with Sicily.My wife and I began by buying just one room, and every time we came back tovisit, we purchased another. After eight months, we had bought 12 differentproperties.

Please tell me a bit about the restoration ofthe building.

Every single roomused to be a family home. We renovated them to have one single property, withall of them connected through the garden. It’s like a circle. Imagine a house ina circle and in the middle is a garden.

From theoutside, it still looks the same. We just restored the original wall and theinterior.

During therestoration, we only used natural and local materials. The terraces use a mixof natural and decorated tiles, something you can’t find anywhere else.

How would you describe the style of the roomsat Casa Talia?

The rooms are simpleand tasteful, but not cluttered with things, using a mix of the old and thenew. Some of the furniture in them was made by us, some restored by us.

Every room has beeninspired by a country on the Mediterranean sea,so no room is like the other. Each one is special. The bigger rooms cost morebecause they are on two levels and have a private terrace or balcony. All roomshave air conditioning, a bath, a shower, and a nice view.

你会怎样形容Casa Talia的房间风格？
简单而雅致的客房，使用旧的结构和新的装饰，但不杂乱。里面一些家具是由我们制作的，一些是由我们修复的。

So both your wife and yourself are architects?

I graduated in architecture, but my job now is to display design for products and furniture. My wife works as an architect and specialises in restoration. So for her, Casa Talia was a great place to show off her work.

Your philosophy is “slow living” — please tellme a bit more about that.We want people tocome here and take their time to enjoy the view, the air, and relax. We live ina pedestrian area in a part of the city very few people go to. Yet at the sametime, it’s just behind the main street.Slowliving means forgetting the phone and just drinking a glass of wine whileenjoying the view. Our view is amazing, it’s like a painting. You can see thecathedral and the oldest part of the city with all the Baroque buildings. It’sreally lovely to sit under the olive tree with a book and just relax and hangout in the garden.

你的哲学是“慢活” – 能否具体讲讲？
我们希望人们到这里来慢慢享受美景、空气、轻松。我们生活在一个很少有人去的城市的行人专用区里。但同时，它刚好在主要街道的后面。慢活的意思是忘掉电话，只是喝一杯葡萄酒并享受美景。我们这里的景色非常迷人，它像一幅画。你可以看到大教堂和城市的最古老的部分——那里全是巴洛克建筑。坐在橄榄树下看书和是在花园里发呆也是美妙的事情。

To you personally, what has been mostrewarding about running Casa Talia?

My life has changed alot. Here, I work 24 hours a day, but at the same time, I am in a place ofholiday and get to spend time with people who are usually very happy andrelaxed. My life is much better than before. I live near the sea and every dayI can see the blue sky and the sun.

对你个人而言，经营Casa Talia最大的收获是什么？
我的生活有了很大的变化。在这里，我每天工作24小时，但同时，每天都在度假，并和一些轻松愉快的人聊天。我的生活比以前好多了。我住在大海附近，每天都可以看到蓝天和太阳。
