美国的建筑学学制究竟有多长？必须要像梁思成一样拿到硕士学位才可以找工作吗？事实上，美国的建筑学学制一般在5到6年以上，学生们在取得建筑学学士学位就可以离开校园找工作了。

美国的建筑学专业的学制有5种，分别是：
1、年制本科即B. S(Bachelor of Science in Architecture ) 和B.A(Bachelor of Art in Architecture)；
2、5年制本科B. Arch (Bachelor of Architecture)；
3、4 + 1 学年制本科(B. S + B. Arch) ;
4、4 + 2 学年制本硕连读(B. S +M. Arch) ;
5、3 年左右的硕士(M. Arch) 。

其中5年制的B. Arch和2到3年的M. Arch都属于职业学位，拥有这种学位的学生有资格直接参加美国国家建筑注册委员会NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration Board)组织的职业建筑师考试并取得从业资格（NCARB Certificate）。在美国，各个行业都有自己的从业委员会，我们所熟知的法律行业要求律师们需要考Bar才能够进入律行担任为当事人担任辩护工作，同样的，美国的建筑师们也需要通过NCARB才可以进入建筑行业从事建筑设计等工作。美国国家建筑注册委员会对全美的建筑学教育进行了统一的登记和授权，美国授权建筑委员会NAAB（National Architectural Accrediting Board）是其唯一的官方代理机构，经由该机构认可的学校有资格颁发B. Arch和M. Arch学位。

美国的建筑学课程所涉及学科非常广泛，各个院校在具体内容上各不相同，但是大体而言，核心课程都是围绕着与环境（建筑和环境、景观）、城市（城市历史、城市规划）、建筑史（美术史、人文史）和理论（建筑构造、建筑理论和建筑材料）、实务（建筑施工、建筑法规）五大类而展开的。

不同学制的课程比重也不尽相同，相对而言，B. Arch学制中建筑史比重最高，而B. S+ M.Arch 学制中城市相关课程占的比重最大。另外，建筑实务类课程B.Arch 学制所占比重比B. S +M.Arch 学制占的比重高，这和五年制的B.Arch学生们会在最后一年直接参加实习（Internship）然后考执照找工作有很大关系。

梁思成先生在美国学习的建筑学，显然是不可能有中国古建筑史和中国美术史理论的，可是为什么他当年回国之后，绵连几十年的奋斗呼走都是为了中国古建筑的传承发展与保护呢？

这个又不得不回到美国的教育上来谈。

美国的艺术教育以及建筑教育的目的，都把学生的个体性格发扬为第一位，学校以激发学生的艺术灵感和美术追求为最大努力，艺乃是美之灵魂心性，术乃是技的运用表达，艺术艺术，首先要肯定艺，而后才是术的学习。

由于建筑学在美国的本土学生的招生标准就比普通专业高出一截，所以对于国际留学生更没有降低标准破格录取的理由，学生们在做建筑学申请时，语言（托福或者雅思）和标准化考试成绩（GRE）更不能低。当然，这个专业显然不是拼分的枯燥专业，所以美国建筑学的申请材料中，学生的作品集的重要性会和他的文书材料一起占到相当大的比重，因为这两部分的内容里，作品集最能体现学生对艺术内涵的表达能力，而文书则最容易理解学生对艺术外延的认知。


很多学生关心美国建筑学的排名，网上流传的各种排名，有心人拿来对比，会发现前十名的排列差异大得惊人。事实上，NAAB没有进行过任何官方排名，它只是提供了自己的认证名单，在这份名单上，全美共有58个B. Arch项目、95个M.Arch项目和1个Doctor of Arch项目得到了认证。而公认的极大建筑学名校：耶鲁大学、哈佛大学、辛辛那提大学、宾夕法尼亚大学、弗吉尼亚大学、加州大学伯克利分校、乔治亚理工大学、麻省理工大学、密歇根大学安娜堡分校、哥伦比亚大学，这十所名校是各类排名中前30名的常客。

想去美国读建筑学或者以后想在美国从事建筑师职业的很多同学都可能经常都会碰到一个名词，NAAB，究竟什么是NAAB呢

我们先来看一下官方的介绍：
The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) is the sole agency authorized to accredit US professional degree programs in architecture. Since most state registration boards in the United States require any applicant for licensure to have graduated from a NAAB-accredited program, obtaining such a degree is an essential aspect of preparing for the professional practice of architecture. While graduation from a NAAB-accredited program does not assure registration, the accrediting process is intended to verify that each accredited program substantially meets those standards that, as a whole, comprise an appropriate education for an architect.

The curriculum of a NAAB-accredited program includes general studies, professional studies, and electives, which together comprise a liberal education in architecture. The curriculum ensures that graduates will be technically competent, critical thinkers who are capable of defining multiple career paths within a changing societal context.

More specifically, the NAAB requires an accredited program to produce graduates who: are competent in a range of intellectual, spatial, technical, and interpersonal skills; understand the historical, socio-cultural, and environmental context of architecture; are able to solve architectural design problems, including the integration of technical systems and health and safety requirements; and comprehend architects' roles and responsibilities in society.

简单来说，NAAB是美国唯一有资格授予建筑职业学位的机构。而在美国绝大部分州要想成为注册的建筑师都必须要毕业于NAAB认证的项目。所以，可以说毕业于NAAB认证项目是在美国做建筑师的必要条件，当然，并不是充要条件。
