DOWN AND OUT IN MANCHESTER

The idea for a series of images depicting the lives of an all-too-invisible population began in late 2019. The homeless are wandering the streets: in full view but seldom seen. These shots form part of a personal photographic journey depicting modern destitution. It’s a side of Manchester that it prefers not to acknowledge.
这个关于隐匿于后巷又显现地人潮前的流浪人群纪实系列影像的想法开始于2019年底。这些镜头是我描述现代贫困的影像历程记录，同样也是曼彻斯特不愿为人知的一幕。



We are living in an era of fast communication and visual information, conveyed on a global scale through a medium that avoids awkward truths and prefers pleasing aesthetic distractions. Homelessness has been and still is a problem in all societies around the world. Through my lens and this mini-series of images, I wanted to expose a human situation that is both local and global; human and troubling.
我们生活在一个快速沟通和视觉信息的时代，它通过一种避免尴尬的事实并喜欢取悦美学的手段在全球传播。在世界上所有的社会中，无家可归仍是一个社会问题。通过我的镜头和这些小的系列影像，我想揭示一个局部和全球性的，人性且不安地人类状况，



The following works are my master thesis in MSA (Manchester School of Architecture) during 2019-2020, exploring the homelessness issue through my lens in order to response the topic of "island". However, as the COVID-19 pandemic sweep the whole world, my scope of the issue becomes more focused on the street life of the group and the whole idea seems more interesting at that certain time.
以下是我在2019-2020年曼彻斯特大学研究生期间的的毕业设计，通过摄影的方式探索了2019年底至2020中曼彻斯特的流浪人群现状，以回应我的孤岛课题。在2020年初开始的新冠肺炎疫情全球化席卷下，我的视角也逐渐集中在了无家可归人群的街巷生活，这个课题也愈发显得逐渐突出和具有现实意义。



At the start of 2021, I have decided to put the whole book here for you to see what homeless people have experienced in Manchester from late 2019 to middle 2020 through my perspective, and certainly, this is only part of the real situation due to some limitations of my constrain.
2021年初我选择把这个系列分享出来，希望大家能通过我的影像那个时间段的流浪人群的生活现状和处境，当然这些也只是冰山一角。
